is a complete prevention planning system for a healthy community.
It is provided in collaboration with the New York State Office
of Substance Abuse Services, New York State Office of Children
and Family Services, and the New York State Department of Health.
Communities
That Care® is a complete package of training and support services
delivered by experienced professionals in the field of prevention
science to help communities develop an integrated approach to:
- The positive
development of children and youth
- The prevention
of problem behaviors including substance abuse, delinquency,
teen pregnancy, school dropout, and violence

First utilizes 3 different research based parenting programs that
are based on extensive research that has identified factors that
place children at risk for alcohol and other drug abuse, and factors
that protect children from substance abuse and other problem behaviors.
All classes are six sessions.

Roots
and Wings - A Research-Based Program:
A six-session
class designed for parents of all age groups who wish to increase
their children's resiliency. Roots and Wings can be especially
helpful to families who have been affected by a family member's
substance abuse problems, but is relevant to all parents who are
looking for vital parenting information.

Parents
Who Care - A Research-Based, Proven Effective Program:
A six-session
class designed for parents of teens to help them guide their children
successfully through the transition from child to adult. Parents
Who Care addresses today's real issues and teaches the skills
necessary for parents to have a strong positive influence in ensuring
that their children develop into healthy adults.

in the Middle - A SAMHSA Model Program:
A six-session
class designed for parents who are separated or divorced. Children
in the Middle sensitizes parents to the particular ways that children
are affected by divorce. Parents will learn how to help reduce
their children's stress and anxiety about divorce by decreasing
the children's exposure to adult conflict and improving communication
among all family members.

All of the above parenting programs are based on extensive research
that has identified (1) factors that place children at risk for
alcohol and other drug abuse, and (2) factors that protect children
from substance abuse and other problem behaviors.
Training for Intervention
Procedures by Servers of Alcohol (TIPS)
TIPS is the
global leader in education and training for the responsible service,
sale, and consumption of alcohol. Proven effective by third-party
studies, TIPS is a skills-based training program that is designed
to prevent intoxication, underage drinking, and drunk driving.
Tips is a five?hour program for on-premise establishments, which
gives front-line people "the tools to protect themselves,
their establishments, their customers and their community."

Prevention
First can help your business to be in compliance with the Drug-Free
Workplace Act. We can review federal regulations compliance and
help you to meet the standards.
Workshops
in the Workplace
Prevention First
offers many options for businesses, organizations, and/or schools
for on-site workshops. Topics include Alcoholism and Drug Use/Abuse
in the Workplace, Healthy vs. Unhealthy Relationships, Conflict
Resolutions, Smoking Cessation, Managing Stress in the Workplace,
