SHELTER PLUS CARE HOUSING
Shelter Plus
Care Housing is the least restrictive and most independent level
of Residential Services. In this program, a client lives alone,
but participates in the appropriate level of counseling provided
by the Council. Our Shelter Plus Care program is designed to provide
HUD subsidized housing and supportive services for homeless persons
in recovery from alcohol and/or substance abuse. They may have
been living in places not intended for human habitation (e.g.,
the streets), in emergency shelters, or they may have given up
their permanent housing in order to seek treatment for their addiction
and are thus homeless.
Clients must
demonstrate a stable recovery and the ability to manage their
recovery before becoming eligible for this program.
